1. Understand Key Terms

DFT (Dry Film Thickness): This is the thickness of the paint layer once it dries. For this example, we will use 100 microns.
Area: The total area you wish to cover with paint, measured in square meters (m²). In our case, we will cover 100 m².
Steel Roughness: This refers to the texture of the surface being painted. We’ll use 100 microns for this example.
Loss Factor: This percentage accounts for paint loss during application. Here, we’ll set it at 40%.
Volume Solids: This percentage indicates the amount of solid material in the paint. We will use 70% for this calculation.

3. Apply the Formula

The formula to calculate the total paint required is:
